On Wednesday Morning PM Will Inaugurate New Building of Ministry of National Defense

Phnom Penh: On Wednesday morning Prime Minister Hun Sen will preside over the inauguration ceremony of the new administrative building and meeting hall of the Ministry of National Defense.

The inauguration ceremony will coincide with the 23rd anniversary of the success of PM’s win-win policy (29 December 1998 - 29 December 2021), which has brought peace to Cambodia after turbulent war times.

According to the Secretary of State and spokesman for the Ministry of National Defense, General Chhum Socheat, the new administration building and meeting hall of the Ministry of National Defense was built at the same site as the older building.

With a width of 28 meters, a length of 191 meters and a height of 32 meters, the new constructed building has a parking space in the ground floors that can accommodate 150 cars. The total usable area of the building is 30,979 square meters, ten times the size of the old building.

Constructions has started on 30 of June of 2018 under the presidency of Samdech Tea Banh, following the construction plan for 36 months to be completed on 30 of June 2021. However, to the Covid-19 crisis, the construction had to extend the another four months, with its completion postponed to 30 October 2021.

 The new administration building and meeting hall of the Ministry of National Defense incorporates the Khmer style into the aesthetics of the building, as in the case of the left-wing, right-wing, and center-shaped design, which is used as an axis, according to the traditional architecture.

The Ministry of National Defense’s building, to be inaugurated this Wednesday, is divided in three parts:

 1: The east side (left wing) is organized as an area to ensure the control of the building when it rains, arranged as a small-large meeting room, a small and large courtroom, a press conference place and a large meeting hall which can accommodate 1,000 people, guaranteeing all protocols and national-international meetings.

 2: The central part is organized as a hospitality and reception area or a Lobby on the ground floor, while on the first floor has a courtyard for the honor guard.

 3: The west side (right wing) is organized as a gallery, a document room, a place to serve security, the office of the leadership of the Ministry of National Defense and some important rooms for officials, with the west side having 6 floors, counting the ground floor.

 The General said that the inauguration ceremony was held to mark the 23rd anniversary of the end of the civil war in Cambodia and the successful implementation of PM Hun Sen's win-win policy.

Under such policy, the motherland of Cambodia has achieved full peace and national unity until today.

At the same day, the Ministry of National Defense will also have a fireworks display in the evening to celebrate the 23rd anniversary of the end of the civil war in Cambodia and the successful implementation of PM Hun Sen's win-win policy at the Victory Monument.

According to General Chhum Socheat, on Thursday morning, at the Victory Monument, a celebration of the 23rd anniversary of the end of the Cambodian Civil War and the successful implementation of PM Hun Sen's Victory Politics will be presided over by the Minister of National Defense and High Representative of PM Hun Sen, Samdech Pich Sena Tea Banh.
